FRENCH-CANADIAN GENEOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF CONNECTICUT

The French Canadian Genealogy Society in Tolland, Connecticut, has wonderful resources at their facility and their website has a great listing of genealogy resources in the state and throughout North America. The dedicated volunteer staff can help you do your family tree or other research. Your genealogy search can also be done for you if you live too far away to become a member (at very reasonable fees).

Incorporated in 1981, FCGSC first resided in Hartford with the French Social Circle, and moved in 1986 to its current location in the Old Tolland County Courthouse. FSGSC has over 660 members and has a library of approximately 3,000 books.

NEW ENGLAND REGIONAL GENEALOGICAL CONFERENCE (NERGC)

A consortium of genealogical societies operating as a non-profit educational organization. With a mission - To promote an interest in Genealogy, To promote skills and a level of expertise of genealogists through sponsorship of educational conferences, To promote harmony and cooperation among Genealogical Societies and To promote adherence to accepted standards for the use and care of genealogical records.

The 2005 conference will be held in Portland, ME, March 31 — April 3, 2005.

The Society was founded at Manchester, New Hampshire in September 1973. Founded in 1982, the FCGW fosters and encourages interest and research in French Canadian and Acadian genealogy, heritage and culture. An active membership produces the FCGW Quarterly full of useful information. Each issue features an exhaustive discussion of a particular research area, such as "Acadia before the Grand Derangement," "Migration to the U.S." and issues on hospitals, highways, and funeral practices of New France.

MAINE FRANCO-AMERICAN GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY

The Father Leo E. Begin Library of MFGS contains over 1700 volumes which include a collection of marriage repertoires from Canada, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont; has 62 books on microfiche and computers containing Family Tree Maker-Census Index (1607-1880); Social Security Death Benefits (1937-1966); 625,000 Maine Marriages on CD (1892-1966).
